Anya’s Thai Food started from a desire to bring authentic Thai food to Kent…
…we are committed to bringing you the genuine taste of Thailand … using the best quality ingredients from our local butchers and greengrocers … for prices no higher than a normal take-away.
Our Chef, Anya Sattrachai, was born into a family with strong culinary roots and has spent most of her life in and around the cooking trade.
Both of her parents are professional Thai chefs, who met while working in the same kitchens on a boat in the 1960s, and who have subsequently opened and run restaurants in various parts of Thailand.
Originally from a village on the banks of the Mekong in the far North East, where the local Isaan cuisine is similar to that of Laos with some influences from Vietnam, she spent much of her childhood in Sukhothai and then moved to Bangkok in her early teens, which gave her the opportunity to sample, and later master, the cooking styles of other regions of Thailand, as well as much further afield.
Today in England, Anya’s Thai Food reflects the undiluted taste of three of her favourite cooking styles:
- Dam Sam cuisine and the wide-variety of street food in Bangkok & Central Thailand
- Aharn Dai from Southern Thailand – for its fresh seafood and curries, and,
- Aharn Isaan from the Northeast of Thailand – for the taste of home
